A week after the opening of the new wholesale market

Toyosu market that replaced the famous Tsukiji market has seen the mass influx of visitors since its opening on October 11th. The public can now see the fishmongers and auctioneers in action from paned walkways in the building from 5am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday except for national holidays and occasional closed days. Nearly 500 wholesalers, 40 restaurants and 80 retail shops have moved from Tsukiji. People form long lines for sushi restaurants and other shops selling food, kitchen tools and souvenirs. Also, a great view of Tokyo Bay from the rooftop plaza shouldn’t be missed. Last but not least, the tuna auction can be viewed, but from the sound-proof glass walkways, and visitors will be allowed to watch on the auction floor only from January 15th next year.
